Laura Chenevert didn’t go through airport security, didn’t present a boarding pass or check her bags. She simply ran — for the plane and for her life.
Chenevert, 30, a Cumberland native, was in Sudan in June, just before the African country split in two. And the area between the split — the Nuba Mountains of southern Kordofan, where Chenevert volunteered as a physician’s assistant — was in the crossfire.
