Healing Help Medical Shipments

Since 1961, CMMB's Healing Help program has operated a 33,000-square-foot distribution center in Long Island City, New York which handles the vast majority of medical shipments to the developing world. Millions of dollars worth of medicines and other medical supplies donated by CMMB’s generous corporate partners are delivered to the distribution center on a rolling basis and then redistributed to those in need throughout the developing world. The Healing Help Distribution Center features a computerized inventory system and climate-controlled refrigeration capabilities for medicines that require cold storage.

During our last fiscal year, CMMB made 453 shipments of medicines and medical supplies valued at approximately $163 million to our local partners in 38 countries.

CMMB has extensive expertise in managing the complex logistics, customs paperwork and governmental relations involved in shipping large amounts of medicines and medical supplies across national borders. Thanks to long-standing relationships with local partners in receiving countries, CMMB also has the confidence of knowing that its shipments safely reach their intended destinations.
CMMB keeps in close communication with missions, clinics and other health facilities in high-needs areas around the world. When specific needs become known, CMMB responds by custom-assembling the needed medicines and medical supplies from its inventory. Typically, these medicines are packed in large 40-feet containers, and then sent by ship to the intended destination. In emergency situations, or when medicines must be refrigerated, shipments are sent by air.
