CMMB is a proud member of the AIDSRelief consortium,
working to expand the delivery of antiretroviral
therapies to HIV-infected persons in Africa and
the Caribbean. AIDSRelief aims to reach approximately
137,600 people living with HIV by 2009 with treatment,
care and support. CMMB collaborates with Catholic
Relief Services, the University of Maryland Department
of Human Virology, Interchurch Medical Assistance
and the Futures Group in this effort, which is
funded through U.S. President George W. Bush’s
Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief. In 2006, the third year of the consortium’s work, AIDSRelief delivered HIV care to 147,405 people, and 47,323 patients have begun receiving antiretroviral therapies, 3,216 of which are children.
